Get involved! The Gretna Public Library Board of Trustees is currently looking for new members!
The Library Board serves as the governing body that oversees the creation of policies and functionality of the Library. The Board acts as a sort of “checks and balances” system for the Library, and must approve all reports submitted by the Library Director before they can be turned into the City. The Library Board is made up of seven members from the Gretna community and they each serve a term of four years. The Library Board meets on the fourth Monday of each month at 6:30pm.
If you are interested in joining the Library Board, then please complete this application and turn it into the Library or City Hall.
Did you know that only half of the estimated 61 million US adults that are at high risk for vision problems have visited an eye doctor in the past 12 months?
Dr. Chapman from Gretna Vision Source will be giving a presentation on cataracts and macular degeneration at the main library branch. She will also talk about her recent medical eye care mission trip in Guatemala.
The event is free and no library card is required to attend.
Since April is the last meeting due to the summer break, you get to decide what recipe you bring, whether it’s a recipe you already have, one you found in a magazine, or on Pinterest!
Please do not pick a recipe that has alcohol in it. Once you have a recipe picked out, make your recipe at home and bring it to the meeting. Please bring a copy of your recipe for those who would like a copy of it. At the meeting, we will sample each other’s dishes and discuss what we liked and didn’t like about the recipes, share stories, and have fun!
To register, click on the link https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FGNG9M9 or visit the library in person!
This program is for 18+ year olds and no library card is required to participate.
Join the Gretna Public Library Foundation as we continue to work on fundraising efforts for building a new library facility for the Gretna community!
If you’re interested in joining our group, please send us an email, and consider joining us for a meeting (we meet on the first and third Wednesday each month). We welcome new members!
